Seorak Mountain’s Cicadas
A long long time ago, there were no cicadas
In Seorak Mountain
How come there are so many cicadas now?
It’s because they all came from Ulsan
There was a daoshi living in Ulsan
And all he did all day was eat and sleep
One summer, the cicadas
Were crying too loudly
That the daoshi couldn’t sleep
So he decided to make the cicadas mute
And tried to curse them and blow away all the cicadas
But the cicadas were very crafty
And sensed what the daoshi was going to do
And flew all the way to Seorak Mountain to avoid the curse
And since then,
There were cicadas living in Seorak Mountain as well
She has lived 13 years of her life in
Brazil, two years in Peru, and attended
international American schools there.
While living in South America, she
learned how to speak four languages at
a very young age. She started translating
through volunteering 2 years ago and
has been passionate about it ever since.
Learning new languages and translating
has always been an essential part of her
life. She is currently majoring in English
at Gwacheon Foreign Language High
School in Korea.
